Time once again for Loaded Questions! I'll see about trying to remember to do this every week or so again. This week's question:

Describe a perfect first date -- or -- if you're in a long-term relationship, describe the perfect date with your partner.

Well, one of the standard elements for modern mortals is to get dinner together. Movies are common, too, but there's not as much chance to talk.

Ahhh, yes. Dinner. Always a fine choice. But... movies, truly? They art so... long a time spent in inaction.

Yeah, like I said, doesn't always work. And there's plenty of outdoorsy type dates. Hiking-oriented picnic might not be what you want to spring for a first date, but once you knew she was into it, it'd totally work for second or third.

Some girls don't like running around the wilderness, Sig, especially if they don't know someone well yet.

Aye, but how ist one to know such things?

Well, the first time you ask her to get dinner or coffee or whatever, you ask questions like "Do you like hiking?"

Hmmm, thou seemst to know this date thing well. Mayhap I shouldst simply bring thee along, and thou canst ask appropriate questions.

I... sense thou'rt displeased or disappointed... but canst not understand why...

It's not that I'm upset, Sig. It's just sometimes difficult to get a concept through to you -- aside from the ones involving violence.

I really do have to swear by long walks, milkshakes at Harry's, and a picnic so far.

I barely remember what a date is, much less what would be a good one.

Although, anything that doesn't end with me pointing a gun should be counted as perfect, right?

Well, I think movies are more second-date material, for one thing. First, you need a little more talking encouraged, but with some options for flexibility. Dinner, and if it works out ... skiball

I don't really have any perfect first date ideas, but all I know is that I can't go on one in Central Park. Ever again. A bunch of squirrels re-enacting "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" may sound like it's pretty funny, but in reality it's just really, really embarrassing.

No, I didn't. Although I guess it's a good thing that I got to find out early that the guy I was with couldn't handle the fact that that I'm a giant weirdness magnet.

A good date had some flirting, some food, and the occasional snog. Not that I let myself do that anymore.

We get dinner. We go for a walk, and talk for a bit. Someone stupid tries to mug us. That's a fun night right there.

First dates are tons of fun, full of possibilities and who-knows-what. And there's no such thing as a "perfect" first date. Each one is unique, and that's what makes them awesome.
